I saw this headline today at the DailyMail’s website “The greatest charity giveaway in history? 34 billionaires pledge half of their fortunes”…and thought, you know what? Maybe this is the Universe’s way of finally responding with some GOOD and uplifting news!

Last night – as usual – I logged on to the Daily Mail’s website to read the news. I was shocked out of my mind when I happened across this article. A few things to bear in mind here: I’m Black, and a Jamaican – the sun doesn’t scare me or make me excited. And, even though I’ve been blessed with my pigmentation as it is, I know that it doesn’t mean that I’m invincible to damage UV rays can wreak on human skin!

Back in 1996, Dr Dre took a chance with an upcoming rap artiste who – visually, at least – broke every single stereotype for a rapper. Marshall Mathers didn’t quite sneak on to the music scene, so much as explode on it. I’ve been an avid Eminem fan since his early days and, even up to recently, my favourite song by Em is “Superman” released in 2003 – several years after he’d already made his mark on the industry.
